Neon

The NEON Smart Helmet By Unit 1 is launching soon, designed to break every trade-off in helmet design. Tested by Virginia Tech, NEON ranked #28 out of 281 helmets with a 5-star rating, while its sibling helmet AURA sits at #17. Together, they hold the #1 and #2 spots in Smart Helmets and place in the Top 5 of all urban helmets tested.

NEON is more than just protection—it’s smarter visibility and safety. It features a bright 180° rear light, turn signals, and automatic brake lights (with the UNIT 1 Remote, sold separately). The helmet is NTA-certified for e-bike protection and includes Crash Alert through the UNIT 1 app, automatically notifying emergency contacts after an accident.

Customization is central to the design. NEON supports magnetic visors for day, night, and adaptive riding, rain plugs for wet conditions, and a winter liner for warmth. Every component is modular, so parts can be replaced individually to extend the helmet’s life.

Key specs:

  • MIPS system, magnetic buckle, modular build
  • IP-67 water resistance, 3–30h battery life
  • 430–490g weight (depending on size)
  • Certified under NTA-8776, EN-1078, and CPSC standards

NEON comes in five colors—Charcoal Black, Mineral Gray, Slate Gray, Pine Green, and Steel Blue—alongside add-ons for ultimate personalization. A streamlined SE version is also available, with a lighter build but fewer features.

The NEON Smart Helmet is built for urban riders, e-bikers, and anyone who wants safety without compromise. Launching in just days, this “impossible” helmet sets a new benchmark in performance and design.

Ivan Miranda Invented a New Type of Skateboard

Last year at OpenSauce I was talking about this idea of a TwoWheeled OneWheel to Wren from Corridor Digital and I haven’t had time to try and make it the whole year so as a last minute crunch project I set myself to build it and bring to OpenSauce 2025. I had a blast and it was amazing having so many people around me helping me and really wanting me to make it working. I’ve learned a lot and I think there’s future in this idea so I may try again sometime.

Propulsion Boards

hpropulsionboards.com

We built our first electric skateboard in 2017 and from then on out, we were addicted. The sensation was like no other, flying through the streets.

In September of 2018 we uploaded our first video to youtube with the goal of helping the DIY community. From then on out we kept uploading content that we thought could help people build boards. We started getting some requests from people to build custom boards and in March of 2019 we sold our first ever custom board.

We decided it was about time to start our own store, where we could sell only the highest quality components that we use on our boards. The result is Propulsion Boards, a place where we sell epic custom boards and high quality electric skateboard parts for your DIY needs.

We make build tutorials and reviews for electric skateboards. You can also find some other cool EV projects that we have built as well! We are two lifelong friends who love electric skateboards. We built our first board in summer 2017 and have been building and improving ever since. Most of our content is about how we build our boards and other PEV’s. We also have many reviews for DIY parts, accessories, and complete electric skateboards. If you want us to make a video about something put it in the comment section and we’ll do our best to get our hands on it.
