Ivan Miranda Invented a New Type of Skateboard

Last year at OpenSauce I was talking about this idea of a TwoWheeled OneWheel to Wren from Corridor Digital and I haven’t had time to try and make it the whole year so as a last minute crunch project I set myself to build it and bring to OpenSauce 2025. I had a blast and it was amazing having so many people around me helping me and really wanting me to make it working. I’ve learned a lot and I think there’s future in this idea so I may try again sometime.

Propulsion Boards

We built our first electric skateboard in 2017 and from then on out, we were addicted. The sensation was like no other, flying through the streets.

In September of 2018 we uploaded our first video to youtube with the goal of helping the DIY community. From then on out we kept uploading content that we thought could help people build boards. We started getting some requests from people to build custom boards and in March of 2019 we sold our first ever custom board.

We decided it was about time to start our own store, where we could sell only the highest quality components that we use on our boards. The result is Propulsion Boards, a place where we sell epic custom boards and high quality electric skateboard parts for your DIY needs.

Electric Skateboard Club

What’s the best route for beginners? How do you maintain those motors? Where can you actually ride legally? Here’s the beautiful truth – you’re not alone in this electrifying journey.

The global electric skateboard community has evolved into something extraordinary. What started as scattered groups of DIY enthusiasts has transformed into a worldwide network of passionate riders sharing knowledge, organizing meetups, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on four wheels and a battery pack. From the bustling streets of Tokyo to the rolling hills of San Francisco, e-skate communities are bringing riders together in ways that would make Tony Hawk proud.

Whether you’re interested in pre-built boards, custom DIY builds, or somewhere in between, these communities offer something invaluable: real-world experience from people who’ve been there, done that, and probably have the speed wobbles to prove it. The future of electric skateboarding isn’t just about better batteries or more powerful motors – it’s about the riders who push the culture forward, one shared experience at a time.

Dive into forum.esk8.news and you’ll instantly feel the electric pulse of the most passionate skateboard community on the web. This isn’t just another forum – it’s the digital headquarters where innovation meets inspiration, where weekend warriors transform into engineering wizards, and where safety always rides shotgun.

The crown jewel? Their legendary Build of the Year competition, where creators showcase mind-blowing DIY masterpieces that push the boundaries of what’s possible on four wheels. With thousands of votes cast and prizes that fuel the next generation of builds, BOTY isn’t just a contest – it’s a celebration of human ingenuity.

But beyond the glamour of competitions, ESK8.News demonstrates genuine care for its community. Recent mental health discussions show moderators who understand that behind every username is a real person navigating life’s challenges. This authentic approach to community building sets them apart in an often-impersonal digital landscape.

The technical discussions are where things get seriously impressive. From VESC controller deep-dives to battery cell comparisons between Moli P45B and EVE 50E, the engineering expertise flows freely. Whether you’re deciphering gear drive mechanics or balancing 120-cell battery packs, the collective knowledge here rivals any engineering textbook.

What strikes newcomers immediately is the accessibility. Yes, there are advanced discussions about open-source gear drives and custom electronics, but you’ll also find friendly guides for first-time builders and patient answers to basic questions. The ‘Pictures and Nothing Else’ thread alone has generated over 800,000 views – proof that sometimes the best communication happens through shared passion rather than words.

From coast-to-coast racing events to part swaps that keep old boards rolling, ESK8.News has created something rare: a digital community that genuinely enhances real-world experiences. Whether you’re hunting for Kegel pulleys or showcasing your latest all-terrain beast, this forum remains electric skateboarding’s most essential digital destination.
